If you have never spent a quiet midnight at the lake, please put the occasion on your personal bucket list. Sit quietly near the water, or preferably on the lake in a canoe or kayak, and listen to the night music. If you are lucky, there will be a loon speaking to its children with such expression one can almost make out the instructions being given. The moon will cast a long glowing patch in front of you as if the water itself was creating this soft blue light. Occasional small ripples from water creatures surfacing to feed will break the light into tiny, bright sparkles as if stars have fallen into the black water.
